What is AVID?
Our program is intended to support underrepresented students in most colleges, to succeed in a rigorous, college preparatory path that leads them to eligibility and acceptance in a four-year university, and compete in a global society. The AVID course is designed to empower students to become conscious of their own learning through the implementation of WICOR (Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization and Reading) strategies and A.V.I.D. methodologies. Students will attend college tours, college sporting events and collaborate with other AVID students at Knott’s Berry Farm and Six Flags Magic Mountain if they maintain a G.P.A. of 2.0 or above without any D’s or F’s.
